Rectal bleeding is a common presentation to the colorectal service and one which worries patients greatly. Although most patients associate their symptoms with either haemorrhoids or bowel cancer there can be a variety of causes.

Prompt investigation is offered which can start at your initial consultation and will include a detailed history and examination. Sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy may also be indicated. Graham MacKay has full accreditation from the Joint Advisory Group in GI Endoscopy to carry out colonoscopy. He is also recognised as a bowel screening colonoscopist and has undertaken a fellowship in Tokyo, Japan to learn advanced endoscopic techniques.
